EDS Australia decided to reduce their floor space from 15,000m2 to 10,000m2. The fitout and rebuilding of their office facility had to be done whilst they were still in occupation. There were also constraints with access to the building and to compensate a material hoist was erected on the rear face of the building.
The construction process involved erecting temporary partitions to divide the work area from the office space. The existing fitout was then completely demolished including all redundant services, together with the core toilets and tearooms. This was followed by the rebuilding of the services, installation of the new fixtures and fittings, workstations, loose furniture and all associated finishes within a five week period.
During this time weekly meetings were held with EDS and the trades on site to overcome various issues from services shutdowns to special staff projects impacting on noisy works. EDS then required three days to vacate the next half floor as well as relocate staff into the new fitted out space. This process was then repeated through six stages until completion. |
